Every design decision exalts the breathtaking view of the undulating green hillsides, complete with grazing cows. When this home’s current owners purchased it after immigrating from Finland in the 90s, they could see its potential despite its lack of finished detail. With the clients’ distinctly minimal aesthetic in mind, this home was transformed into a Nordic oasis that pays homage to the breathtaking views and complements the terraced vineyard the homeowners are cultivating.
The complete gut makeover of this home’s interior, including windows, floors, kitchen, and bathrooms, gave way to a serene and bright space marked by stark white interior walls and Alvar Aalto furniture. As for the exterior, the homeowners opted for clean white stucco instead of the old brown shingles, completely reinventing the home’s appearance. The sprawling deck, with a Finnish sauna and outdoor shower, is the pinnacle point in the dwelling, where the abundant view is best enjoyed.
The final result is a piece of Finnish joy in the Bay Area. After all, Finland is ranked the happiest place on earth, and this home is no exception!
